An Environment that Enhances the Experience
The architecture that surrounds the INFINITY experience
is an extension of that experience. The building not
only encloses and protects the exhibition—it’s
placement, materials, and systems are thoughtful applications
of science and technology. INFINITY’s building
and landscape architecture is based on LEED (Leadership
in Energy and Environmental Design) standards, a voluntary,
consensus-based national standard for developing high-performance,
sustainable buildings. Derived from well-founded scientific
standards, LEED emphasizes state-of-the-art strategies
for sustainable site development, water savings, energy
efficiency, materials selection and indoor environmental
quality. From the permeable paving surfaces in the parking
lot, to the aquatic plant waste-water filtering system,
to the indoor climate control systems, INFINITY visitors
will experience science and technology at work!

| View
of INFINITY's Entrance
INFINITY’s “jewels” or exhibits
will be housed in a 67,000 square foot, two-story
steel and glass structure that rises forty-eight
feet above the surrounding landscape and offers
a compelling view from Interstate 10. While the
INFINITY site remained dry during the Hurricane
Katrina storm surge, the building will be raised
an additional seven feet in elevation and is designed
to withstand hurricane force winds. The INFINITY
architecture is a sustainable design that demonstrates
a physical integration with the landscape, a respect
for limited resources, and applied principals
of conservation that visitors can observe as part
of their guest experience. |
